All About Arne!
Born in California; growing up in Redlands, Mark “Arne” Arnegard moved to Flagstaff in 1967 to study forestry at Northern Arizona University. Instead he discovered clay and earned a B.F.A. in ceramics in 1972.
Throwing pots in Flagstaff ever since graduating NAU, His gallery and studio simply named Arne Ceramics is located on the famous Route 66 just west of Flagstaff. As a resident “Artist in the park” for the Grand Canyon National Park; Arne spent two summers teaching, demonstrating and perfecting his craft, for the visitors and residents of this amazing natural landscape.
Arne's art is influenced greatly by his time spent river running, hiking and mountain biking in northern Arizona. Hand made on site. All drawings, graphics, and glazing are original creations and hand applied in the studio. Each piece is "fired” twice in one of the multiple kilns on site. Firing temperatures reach 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. All glazes are original formulations, created on site. Then checked for consistency these original glazes are used in various combinations to achieve Arne's signature results. All glazes used are non-toxic and lead free, boasting an unmistakably durable permanent color that will not fade and is resistant chipping. Most glaze colors and styles may be applied to any of the pieces for a truly made to order work of art.
